CAROLINE LORING, MD, FAAP
Pediatric Complex & Chronic Illness Care

Dr. Caroline Loring (she/her) is a board certified Pediatrician (FAAP) and fellowship-trained physician in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.  After completing her medical education at Rush Medical College, Dr. Loring completed her Pediatrics residency at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL. She served as Chief Resident for her residency program for one year before going on to complete her Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship at Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland, OR.

Dr. Loring takes care of children and young adults (birth through age 22) with complex or serious illness. She can do different things for different patients and families:

  1. Diagnose, manage and coordinate care for musculoskeletal issues, like hypermobility, complex regional pain syndrome, fibromyalgia and connective tissue disorders (including Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome)

  2. Management of complex or difficult to treat symptoms in children - like headaches, chronic pain, and spasticity (medical management).

  3. Serve as an extra layer of support for families who have children with serious illness (cancer, genetic syndromes, cerebral palsy, and more) - by treating symptoms, developing relationships with kids and their doctors, and by helping ensure that medical decisions are in-line with the patient’s and family’s goals. This her chosen specialty of “pediatric palliative care.”

Dr. Loring was born and raised in River Forest, IL. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, hosting gigantic dinners with friends, singing, hiking, staring at her garden, and playing Slay the Spire on her phone.
